The story of Ben Walker (Kevin Sorbo), who leaves his college sweetheart Wendy (Kristy Swanson), and ignores his calling to be a preacher, to pursue a business opportunity. Fifteen years on, Ben is a highly I paid business executive with a trophy fiance and a new Mercedes. During these fifteen years Ben hasn't considered a family nor felt the need to set foot in a church. But God has other plans. When Ben takes his Mercedes for a joy ride and it mysteriously breaks down he is visited by Mike (John Ratzenburger), a tow truck driver who claims he is an angel, sent to show Ben what his life would be like had he followed his true calling. Ben must first embrace this reality and discover the value of faith and family, and perhaps restore his love for those who were heartbroken fifteen years ago: Wendy and God.
