Synopsis:
"World Steam" is a lively survey of today's preservation of yesterday's steam engine heritage. Each video covers different parts of the world with extraordinary selections of main line, industrial, and working steam engines in different regions. This exciting video documentary series features highlights of famous steam engines and exotic locations. 'The East' begins in Jordan where you will witness action on the famous Hedjaz Railway. After a short visit to Syria, arrive in India - one of the last places where steam remains active in everyday service. Witness the last few months of the mighty WP Pacifies in service from Saharanpur.
You'll also see the narrow gauge locomotives at work and visit the world famous Darjeeling line. Make a short trip to Nepal to see Avonside and Hunslet engines at work, then move on to Pakistan to witness a trip with classic steam locomotives up the troubled Kyber Pass. In Sri Lanka, take a trip on the restored 1928-built Sentinel steam railway.
