It would have been very enjoyable had the technical quality not been so so bad. To release a great old film for it's time then insult all who worked on it with this: out of focus, green fringing on the left of frame, dirt in the gate on right, possibly from 16mm copy. Oh dear such a shame. Glad I did not buy it and only rented!!!

The film itself is very good and a classic but....

... The DVD is in 4:3 [the outer edges cropped]. The film was originally shot in cinemascope. The opening titles are 4:3 instead of the 1.33.1. Meaning the picture is squeezed up and everything tall and thin.

Finally the copy was made under American standards via a camera not "flying spot" [goole it] as in UK thus giving poor colour and generally bad picture quality. Would suggest this copy was actually made some time in the 1970's.

Amaturish. Inconsistant aspect ratios. Poor sound, story and so on. What a complete waste of time.

One star is too many.

This film has the air of a 1960's cheap Hammer horror film. Poor story (contrived). Remenicent of the Phantom of the Opera. Poor production/ effects. The well known actors do not help retrieve the film.
