I watched five minutes of this film which was enough to make it clear that it bore absolutely no relation to historical reality. Queen Anne was a sensible and extremely determined monarch who had a far better sense of what England needed than almost any of her advisers, including Sarah Churchill. Anne may not have had much charm or eloquence - she left that to all the fools around her. If it hadn't been for her England would either have reverted to Catholicism as the Tories of the time wanted or if Sarah had had her way gone in for petulant whiggery and endless warfare.

Anne steered the middle ground against all advice and paved the way for decades of peace in the eighteenth century.

This film is typical of the pig ignorance of the modern age.
