What Women Want

Ol' blue eyes is back - Sinatra I mean.

(Edit) 03/03/2005

From the dance routine to the encounter with pantie-hose, Mel Gibson is superb. There's real chemistry between he and Helen Hunt. Their sheer energy seems to infect everyone involved. Its pace is non-stop and the action hilarious. See this film at least once before the end of the world.

Bill Bailey Live: Cosmic Jam / Bewilderness

Brilliant Bailey

(Edit) 25/04/2005

I thought I was going to injure myself laughing at this excellent stand-up comedian. Bailey is not only a very clever and funny guy, he's a good musician too - what he does with the Magic Roundabout theme is almost beyond belief.

He's not all that politically correct either - thank God, I'm a bit tired of not being able to move for fear of offending somebody or another. A definite must-see for anybody who enjoys first rate comedy.

DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story

What a hoot

(Edit) 14/05/2005

This was really funny from start to finish. Mostly reliant on visual gags, but what gags they were. An anal retentive body-builder/gym owner decides to buy out the 'Average Joe's gym across the road. But the Average Joes won't go down without a fight and enter the Dodgeball championships with a grand prize of $50k to buy back their gym's mortgage. The Anal forms his own team of muscle-bound types to play and you guessed it, they play the Joes in the Final. Don't accuse this of being too formulaic, there are one or two surprises at the end. Just enjoy the underdogs taking on the bad guys.

Tears of the Sun

Brutal but maybe necessary

(Edit) 26/02/2005

Other websites have criticised this film. I would only say this, watch the interviews afterwards, esp. with the guys who had escaped the horrors of ethnic cleasning occuring in some parts of Africa. This is a brutal film, raw and nasty - but maybe necessary. There's no sense in how people treat other people sometimes, but this movie doesn't try to find a nice pat answer.

My Boss's Daughter

Hmmmmm?

(Edit) 03/03/2005

This romantic (erm) comedy (?) has the finesse of a house-brick. Complete with urinating drug-dealer, breast massage and jokes(?) in questionable taste. I find a visit to the dentist more entertaining.

Miss Congeniality

Yippee

(Edit) 03/03/2005

Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, Bill Shatner et al - perfect cast for a perfect film. Excellent fun, Bullock is great as 'Dirty Harriet' as Caine dubs her. Her co-star Benjamin Bratt takes everything she hands out with panache.

Terrific comedy.
