Inspired at a very early age by his piano playing mother and sister, Frank Mills learned to master the instrument by ear whilst still at school. It was there that he took up his second (and possibly more accomplished instrument) the trombone. At 18 he entered the McGill University in Montreal where he began to study pre-med, but became disillusioned with studying and opted to join the Navy. Fatefully, it was whilst he was on his way to the recruitment office that he bumped into a friend from the music faculty and was talked into about turning and taking the entrance exam. Scoring an unprecedented 98%, Frank realised where his career lay and in 1971 he had his first No 1 hit 'Stay a While', with Canadian band The Bells. This video contains two live performances filmed in the early 1990s. The Music of Frank Mills not only features his mega hit 'The Music Box Dancer' but also probably his most fondly loved composition 'The Peter Piper Theme', along with many other favourites. The second programme, Christmas With Frank Mills, was recorded in Halifax in 1994 and demonstrates that, in Frank's hands, virtually anybody's music becomes his own. As a bonus there is a special glimpse of the accompanying promo clip for The Peter Piper Theme. A truly incredible talent, Frank Mills has been graced with the success and legendary status he deserves. That his millions of fans worldwide remain devoted to his inimitable charm is proof itself. Composer, arranger, pianist, singer, superstar, Frank Mills is all these and much much more.
