We chose a new location for this sixth series of Transatlantic Sessions the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. So that was us taking the high road to what has become something of a biennial reunion of our Aly-and-Jerry-led house band with director Mike Alexander's technical A-team, the trust and coordination between the two making for not just great music but a great viewing/listening experience. For some of our star guests - Maura O'Connell, Cara Dillon, Julie Fowlis, Karen Matheson and Tim O'Brien Transatlantic Sessions Six was a welcome return. For others Mary Chapin Carpenter, Aoife O'Donovan, Andy Irvine, Teddy Thompson, Ewan MacLennan - it was a new experience that they took to like (OK, back to the bonnie banks) ducks to water. Mary Chapin Carpenter, indeed, whom we'd been angling to get for years, came to sing for three days and ended up giving us five, as generous in harmony mode as she was magnificent in her lead numbers. And talking of lead numbers, check out Jerry as you've never heard him before on the wrap-up of programme six.
