Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Not even "so bad it's good". Just bad

(Edit) 04/05/2022

Alarm bells were ringing in the first few minutes, as both homophobic and borderline racist jokes came out, but I was still prepared to accept those as "of its time", had the rest of it been even ok.

Extremely poor attempts at "Airplane" style humour, but without any of the class of that much better film.

Comedy horror is so difficult to get right, and without genuinely making an attempt at the horror aspect, or at least a genuine pastiche, the comedy doesn't work. For a better example, compare Scream (extremely well executed horror movie spoof) with Scary Movie (less funny than banging your shin on a coffee table). But I've become sidetracked...

This film isn't even "so bad it's good", or "alright idea executed badly". It's just bad. No redeeming features whatsoever.

Last Night in Soho

Enjoyable, intriguing, and stylish

(Edit) 04/05/2022

Interesting film. I can't say too much without giving a lot away so I won't go too much into the plot, but suffice to say, just when I thought I had the mystery solved (and said as much to my fiancé), the rug was pulled brilliantly!

Good cast. Anya Taylor-Joy is nailed on to be a massive name in both mainstream cinema as well as more artistically interesting films, and Thomasin McKenzie is a name I wasn't familiar with but I'm sure I'll see more from her. Very good turn by the late Diana Rigg, and Matt Smith puts on a good show as a volatile underworld figure.

Also very stylishly shot, and with a great soundtrack.

Definitely one I'd recommend
