According to the accompanying documentary the film was actually made in English, the non-English-speaking Hungarian cast having been coached with the pronunciation of their lines. This would account for the noticeable differences in accent and confidence. This is one of the inconsistencies that mar this film and which limit its intelligibility; nor are there any subtitles that might otherwise be helpful. 

If the accents are largely implausible so too are the costumes — how likely is is that almost everyone in so remote a rural location would be so well-dressed in clothes so evidently new? Luscious filming in an attractive setting does not offset the film's fundamental mistakes.
