Happy, Happy

Far from happy

(Edit) 16/01/2018

A great little film, psychologically true and interesting, with a crisp dialogue and a splendid series of musical links

Nothing About Robert

Vaut le detour

(Edit) 15/12/2017

Good movie with a great cast and some intriguing sequences... Suffers from the inevitable superficiality of being a clever story about an inveterate liar totally immersed in his fantasy... The lack of depth failed to pull me in, so that I was left emotionally uninvolved.

The Farthest

infinity beckons

(Edit) 06/12/2017

A very informative documentary that captures both the extraordinary complexity of the mission and the excitement of the scientific community.

Elle L'Adore

Kiberlain at the top of her game

(Edit) 06/12/2017

An intriguing plot, great acting from Kiberlain, who rarely disappoints and provides an edgy and convincing performance, and a well-paced movie that has plenty of twists and turns

Romantics Anonymous

Sweet hesitancy

(Edit) 02/12/2017

This is a gentle romantic comedy, with good actors who are well cast and a story about innocence and longing that is probably all too common in a world that is sadly insensitive to the very real anxieties that bedevil relationships.

The Kidnapping of Michel Houellebecq

Remarkable and quirky tale

(Edit) 02/12/2017

This film has proved to be an unexpected delight, both surreal and yet very engaging. The characters, including our hero, are very well chosen. I constantly presumed that MH would suffer some hurt, but he emerges unscathed and unruffled from an ordeal that would otherwise have proved the undoing of most people. We need to see more of him!
