Give this film a chance. It's a film representation of a theatrical production, which means it takes a while to get into.
It also takes a while to get going, but after the first few songs, the plot picks up. It's funny, well-acted and performed, and the 2 leads are outstanding.
Perhaps not to everyone's taste, but definitely worth a try.
This film is exactly what you expect. Entertaining but predictable - you know what's going to happen from the start, but it's well-acted and well-filmed.
An enjoyable bit of fluff, especially appropriate for a Saturday night between seasons when there's no Match of The Day.
This was very slow-moving with a restrained, reflective pace. An intelligent film with a good script and some great acting (Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris and a scary William Hurt).
The one jarring note was the sickly sentimental lovey-doveyness of the family - yuck! This element was very heavy-handed in contrast to the story of mob connections and violence.
