Donnie Darko

Donnie's Back

(Edit) 13/11/2022

Hadn't seen this since it came out originally. Enjoyed it at the time but less so this time, probaly because I knew the plot. Still liked it this time. Acting was good as was the 1980's mainly British music. Picked up on a few references to other 80s films such as ET, Heathers and The Shining. Definitely worth a look if you haven't seen it before.

I was disappointed by the quality of the Blu Ray sound and vision.

Fright Night

Fright Ham

(Edit) 13/11/2022

I'd never seen this film at the time and fancied some retro horror/supernatural. The acting was pretty poor, too hammy and shouty for me. The plot was as you'd expect from such a film. The main female character who is meant to be at High School looked almost 30. I watched it to the end but I kept thinking how much better the Buffy The Vampire tv series was (not the fim). For me, BTVS at it's best is the pinnacle of this genre.

Witness for the Prosecution

Guilty of being completely unbelievable

(Edit) 22/01/2020

I'm a big fan of Billy Wilder but found this film to be simply unbelievable. A very unrealistic film which left me annoyed rather than surprised at the double twist ending. The acting was often hammy and the humour didn't work for me. Some scenes made me cringe such as the one where Dietrich is incredibly badly dubbed.

Overall, I found it to be completely over rated.

Railroaded!

Routine B Movie

(Edit) 28/10/2018

The DVD print is poor and noisy. The film is routine and except for the look and feel I wouldn't class it as a film noir.
