Synopsis:
Botticelli was one of the most coveted and talented artists of the Florentine Renaissance. On behalf of the powerful Medici family, he created a series of outstanding famous illustrations for Dante's 'Divine Comedy'. Free and unconventional in his imagery, Botticelli reveals the entire extent of his genius in his interpretation of the fantastic journey through hell, purgatory and paradise. In 2000, for the first time, all 92 sheets of the cycle were exhibited. As a result, the filmmaker, McPherson, decided to turn this epochal masterpiece into the subject of a portrait. Together with experts, he leads us into the fascinating world of Botticelli, its beauty as well as its abominable aspects.
