"Britain's Railways: The Home Front War Years 1941 to 1943" is the second part of the most comprehensive trilogy ever made on Britain's railways during the war years; it covers the events from the cessation of The Blitz in May 1941 to the end of 1943 when the armed forces were training and beginning to stockpile equipment for a future invasion of mainland Europe. Subjects covered include :- Locomotive naming ceremonies of two S.R. Merchant Navy Class at London Victoria and London Waterloo and an L.M.S. Streamlined Coronation Class and Jubilee Class at London Euston. New locomotives the S.R. CC1 3rd Rail Electric Loco, the War Department Austerity 2-8-0 and the USATC S160 2-6-0.
Plus a feature on the LMS V2 . The transportation of Valentine, Churchill, Covenanter, American Sherman and Canadian Cruiser tanks by train. Ambulance trains with repatriated prisoners. Women rail workers in locomotive maintenance, signalling, station management, infrastructure maintenance and in the railway workshops.
