Synopsis:
In "Gangs of Britain" Gary and Martin Kemp take the viewer on an immersive journey across the UK in which they reveal who ran and who now runs gangland Britain. By connecting the fascinating historical stories of the country's first criminal fraternities (from Manchester's Scuttlers, and Birmingham's Brummagems to The Liverpool Cornermen) with the multi faceted gangs of today, they build up a criminal Who Do You Think You Are, full of amazing stories, characters and facts of British gangs. In each episode Gary and Martin visit a different city where they tell the connected stories of one modern day and one historical gang, through interview, archive and re-construction.

Glasgow
Glasgow is a city divided. Cut in half by one lethal weapon - the blade. Knife crimes and razor gangs have been a presence on the streets of Glasgow for nearly 200 years. There are more scarred faces in Glasgow than anywhere else in Britain. In 2002 the World Health Organisation declared Scotland as one of the bloodiest nations in the Western World and Glasgow the murder capital of Europe. Gary and Martin look at two savage attacks, past and present, that typify the city s street violence and they investigate the cause and effect of the sectarianism that still divides Glasgow to this day. A brutal razor attack in the 1920's shines light on a rivalry that runs far deeper than the football teams that inspired it. Almost 80 years later in 2010 another victim is cut down this time butchered with a sword after an argument escalates out of control.
