Historic Travel US: San Francisco: A Jewel in California's Crown (2007)

Films from the 1930's, '40's, and '50's paint a portrait of what San Francisco and its surrounding regions were like in the first half of the 20th century. Through the images in "Golden Gate City" and "San Francisco", viewers will be reminded of the features that make the city unique, like the Golden Gate Bridge, Market Street, and Chinatown. In the short documentary "Along the Way," colour shots of the San Francisco area illustrate why and how the Bay Area Rapid Transit system (BART) was designed. Aimed to facilitate easy travel from one part of the city to the next while lessening pollution and traffic, BART was created with environmental concerns in mind.
