Jazz Life: Vol.1 (1981)

Music filmmaker Stanley Dorfman helms these two 1981 shows from New York's legendary Village Vanguard. First is the Johnny Griffin Quartet, led by the former Thelonious Monk Quartet saxophonist, with the tunes "Blues for Gonzi" and "A Monk's Dream". The Richie Cole Group follows with a set featuring the songs "I Can't Get Started", "Punishment Blues", "Hi Fly", "Red Top" and the Charlie Parker tune "Yard Bird Suite".
