An explorer lands on a new planet and is quickly drawn under the spell of a vast, powerful sea that dominates the region. As he ventures deeper, he realises the sea behaves like a living being, pulling him into its own struggle for survival. Fog closes in repeatedly, shrouding his vision, distorting his instruments, and forcing him to rely on intuition and doubt. Through the haze, he radios reports to Ground Control and records his findings, unsure whether anyone - including himself - will ever understand them. His journey crosses shifting sandbars, tidal streams, and derelict fortresses, relics of a forgotten war. Local settlers seem oblivious to the toxic tide approaching and the intensifying storms predicted by his craft's instruments. Drifting toward a distant citadel, he discovers he is not charting a wilderness ruled by a sea, but witnessing a planetary reckoning. In his final voyage, he understands the sea's message.
