The programme has been produced to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the end of main steam on British Rail. The golden age of steam travel came to end with the running of the '15 guinea special' on the 11th of August 1968. This fascinating feature features British Rail's steam operation during the years leading up to it's demise, including the celebrated August 11 1968 special. The programme has been produced especially for Steam World by TeleRail and includes a selection of material from the final years of BR steam. The action ranges from classic mainline operation on express passenger workings to rural branch lines and trip freights. All with the added benefit of carefully matched authentic sound from the internationally famous Peter Handford collection.
