Huck is an ever cheerful boy who loves being outdoors and never wears shoes, but his adoptive mother, 'the widow' is constantly trying to tame him. These are the stories of his colourful journey through childhood.
IN THE PIRATES CAVE - Huck persuades several of his friends to join him in a treasure hunt to take place in the caves on the outskirts of town. Meanwhile, thieves are looting the town after setting fire to a cotton field as a diversion.
PAP'S BACK - The widow gets Huck enrolled in school and Huck is trying to adjust, with difficulty, to the new life. After an attempt to escape from school, Huck tries harder to adapt to the changes when he learns that his 'Pap' is back in town.
CABIN FEVER - When Huck is abducted by his father, he is taken to a shack in the woods and virtually held prisoner. The widow, however, soon finds out his whereabouts and tries to persuade Sam Finn to give him up.
ESCAPE TO FREEDOM - After sawing through one of the logs in the shack, Huck breaks down the door and demolishes the furniture with an axe. Then, leaving his shoes and smearing catfish blood over everything, he escapes.
A SIGN FOR EVERYTHING - Huck has discovered Miss Watson's slave, Jim, is nearly starved, so Huck feeds him and explains that he has run away. Jim has also run away because Miss Watson was about to sell him, so they decide to join forces.
