The BBC s absorbing children s drama is back with yet more mysteries for our four loyal friends Flavia, Nubia, Jonathan and Lupus to investigate and solve. Whether they are dealing with assassins or searching for kidnapped children, it is the trials they face in every episode that continues to strengthen their friendship. Set in the time of the Roman Empire, against a backdrop of one of history s most turbulent periods, the bond between our four social misfits continues to grow and develop as they set out on a journey of exploration and discovery. They are all growing up and must now learn to accept the responsibilities that come with their different positions in a harsh society. Flavia must cope with her father s impending marriage and her own journey into womanhood, but is his new bride all that she seems? Jonathan s father needs him by his side but with prized Gladiators in town his life is suddenly in mortal danger. Why has he been chosen to fight in the arena in front of the Emission? He is still just a child? Nubia must learn to cope with life as a freed slave, and with her growing feelings for Flavia s handsome tutor Aristo, but first she must prove his innocence and time is rapidly running out. And Lupus sets out to find his family. How, and why was his mother sacrificed to the gods? Based on the best-selling books by Caroline Lawrence, this lavish series stars Mark Benton, (Dr Who, City Lights, Northern Lights and TV s incompetent banker in the Nationwide adverts), as the bumbling Floridius.
