One More (2011)One More: A Definitive History of UK Clubbing 1988-2008
It's an all-star DJ line-up that would have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds in its heyday...assembled here for 'One More' celebration. Clubland heavyweights Jeremy Healy, Brandon Block, Graeme Park, Danny Rampling, Norman Cook, Tall Paul, Allister Whitehead, Mark Moore, Sonique, Nicky Holloway and Radio One stalwarts Judge Jules Jules and Dave Pearce, plus many more, dot the 'I's and cross the 'T's on two decades of aving 'IT'. Emerging from the end of the first wave of British punk to a position among the most popular UK punk bands by the early eighties, U.K. Subs chiseled a solid following across the USA and Europe. Germany, in particular, was a strong hold for U.K. Subs based primarily on their live show and to this the Beat Club producers decided to document it. Belated as it was (they had now lost drummer Steve Roberts), it was one of the few documental performances of the classic line-up prior to the 1983 break up. The audience were perhaps more enthusiastic and animated that September in 1982 than the Bremen studio was accustomed to.
Cameras were jostled and cables tangled but here it is....

This Punjabi-language Bollywood opus from director Manmohan Singh observes the class between Indian diaspora culture and indigenous culture. Two young Indian men who were raised in Britain return to India. Each falls in love with a different girl, but they find themselves constrained by a common problem: the girls in question fail to respond positively to these suitors, given their quintessentially British attitudes.
When it comes to raw, uncompromising punk music U.K. Subs are the genuine article. Totally immersed in the punk culture, the band performed a barrage of no less than 20 in your face tracks live at the Camden Palace, specially recorded for the Live From London series. The group's founder and lead vocalist Charlie Harper, James Moncur on guitar, John Armitage on bass and drummer Rab Fae Beith combine for a truly memorable performance that defines an era of British punk including the hits Warhead, Stranglehold and Tomorrow's Girl. In 1976 the British music scene was alive with the sound of punk as a new wave of bands expressed their political and anti-establishment views through hard-edged lyrics and music. At the forefront of the movement was the U.K. Subs, formed in the same year by lead singer and prolific songwriter Charlie Harper. Originally called the Subversives, and then briefly the U.K. Subversives, the band's first line-up consisted of Harper, Nicky Garratt on guitar, bassist Paul Slack and a carousel of drummers before Pete Davis settled into the job. Thanks to the exposure from playing several sessions on John Peel's Radio 1 show in 1977-78, the U.K. Subs recorded their first album with Gem Records in 1979 called Another Kind Of Blues , reaching number 21 in the UK chart. The album heralded the beginning of a hugely successful part of the band's career, scoring 7 consecutive Top 30 hits in the UK single chart and opening for The Police at several of their concerts. Crash Course , released in 1980 was the band's most successful album peaking at number 8 in the UK album chart and cemented their reputation as one of the world's leading punk acts. Despite numerous line-up changes in the following years, the U.K. Subs are still on course to fulfil their ambition of releasing successive albums starting with consecutive letters of the alphabet. As of 2011 and the release of w - Work In Progress , the U.K. Subs are just three releases away from that goal, and with a packed touring schedule and no sign of their popularity waining z will only be a matter of time.
