Eragon

Fun for everyone

(Edit) 30/07/2007

This story is about a young boy called Eragon. I do not want to spoil the story but lets just say that there are Dragons, beautiful Princesses, hero's, Scorcerers, and Warriors of various kinds. Eragon has to learn to be a man and rescue virtually everyone. But who will help him? What on earth is this blue stone that he found hunting? He will soon find out.

A decent array of actors in this film. Jeremy Irons is not the main character but he plays a good part. This is really quite good for all the family from the age of about 8-10 I would say. Any younger and they may be frightened by the special effects. No gore though.

The effects are good and the story line is strong enough for adults to watch with or without the kids. It is not as dark as Lord of the Rings but it is enjoyable and leaves you with a warm feeling when it has finished. Which will probably be due to the fact you have been glued to the TV and have not gone for a toilet break.

Amazing Grace

A Wonderful Life. Trully Amazing

(Edit) 02/09/2007

Human nature loves a story of triumphing against unsurmountable odds, but not many at all are actually true stories that will inspire others. William Wilberforce, was a passionate man who lived in Britain and fought for many abused, neglected people all his life. This film concentrates on his struggle to fight a campaign to abolish slavery in throughout the Old Empire.

We have a glimpse of this mans private life and the real difficulties and personal doubts he had in order to let people have a change to see the love of God which he believed was to be freely shown to all men.

Truly amazing grace. Suitable for all the family although may be a little long for younger members.

Norbit

Sometimes making fun of fat people can flop

(Edit) 02/09/2007

Most people have seen Eddie Murphy playing his multiple roles (including very fat people)in the nutty professor movies. He is clearly able to be funny and can play many characters well. But this time was not one of them.

This is probably one of the most "least funny" and "waste of time" movies I have ever seenn, a real disappointment. Eddie co-wrote and produced this film but the magic of the former funny fat movies has long gone.

It is supposed to be a typical story of boy loses attractive virginal girl, boy finds fat mean girl, marries her and then finds his dream again, once his fat girl turns bad. But it just doesn't work for me at all. The dialogue is difficult to follow and it is painfully slow.

Sorry Eddie but you flopped on this one, and you cant blame the fat lady.

It's a Boy Girl Thing

Remake

(Edit) 02/09/2007

This film is a remake of an 80's classic comedy about a girl and a guy who hate each other being magically forced to change places and begin to appreciate each other. Some funny scenes. Light family humour thoughout (although some sexual comments are perhaps post 12 years in my opinion.

A pleasant feel good movie to relax to. You should try it.
