- Synopsis:
A collection of Verdi operas. Sir Georg Solti conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in a production of 'Un Ballo in Maschera', recorded live at the Salzburg Festival in 1990. Originally planned by Herbert von Karajan, Solti agreed to conduct the opera at short notice after Karajan's sudden death in 1989. The production features performances by Plácido Domingo, Leo Nucci, Josephine Barstow and Florence Quivar. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra,conducted by Zubin Mehta, perform 'La Forza Del Destino' at Florence's Teatro Comunale in 2007. Violeta Urmana, Carlo Guelfi and Marcello Giordani sing the leads. Lastly, Lorin Maazel conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Alla Scala for a 2007 production of 'La Traviata'. Soloists include Angela Gheorghiu, Ramon Vargas and Roberto Frontali. - Directors:
