A film to while away an evening, scary in parts with a reasonable ending. So what, if you don’t get to find out who or what these monsters are, where they came from, how they survive - apart from their human diet. So what, if it’s obvious that humans would be unable to remain silent to survive? No idea how the survivors manage to keep children completely silent, good luck with that! What about wildlife? Our daily life is full of noise, even when sleeping we snore. Cooking, chopping wood for fires, even the most basic tasks generate noise - the list is endless. But if you are willing to suspend disbelief, sit back and accept the film for what it is.

Nice scenery, but a sombre story with nothing to lighten it. Give this a wide berth if you’re feeling down.

Always the test of a good film, the answer is YES! Clive Owen, as usual, great, and Jaeden Lieberher steals the show. Good storyline and a very satisfying ending, what more can I say?
