Singularity

Utter derivative tripe - if you're older than 12 years old forget it.

(Edit) 24/05/2018

Yes I was sucked in by the cover. In fact the film plods along at snails' pace trying desperately to emulate Hunger Games, Teminator 3, Oblivion and other far superior movies. John Cusak plays his role marginally better than a truckle of cheddar cheese (he must really have needed the money), and the lead protagonist played stoically by Jeanine Wacker ain't no Jennifer Lawrence though that was clearly who she was meant to resemble. Shot mainly in a forest with open glades (sound familiar), the CGI is impressive for the brief moment in time that it appears but it's mainly drab cityscapes, woodland and banks of computer screens supposed to suggest the lair of the evil conspirators. The final words from Cusak " Let it begin " alarmingly suggests a follow up. NOOOOO. Please. In short i'd have preferred to watch paint dry.

Bitter Harvest

Soporific when it could have been terrific.

(Edit) 06/03/2018

As with the above reviews, I hired this in the expectation of something much more. Wooden character portrayals (the 'romance' / love interest was supposed to tie it all together?), ghastly music (I actually turned the sound off a couple of times) and a missed opportunity to tell the story of Stalin's murderous rule over the people of Ukraine.

Avoid if possible.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Great Follow up

(Edit) 27/09/2014

Excellent sequel to the Hunger Games with Katniss as feisty and fabulous as ever. Lovely twist too.

If you enjoyed the first film you'll not be disappointed by this. Must watch

Act of Valour

Great boys own shoot em up trash.

(Edit) 26/09/2014

What a disappointment this movie is / was. The promise of real Seals taking some of the lead roles led only to wooden performances and embarrassing dialogue. I felt sorry for the professional actors having to put up with the guff.

Okay so that's the downside. On an action front the film is okay; lots of COD type camera views (first person shooter), daring do by our friends across the pond and the parachuting scenes are fun.

However, if you're over 15 and want a war movie with plot, good dialogue and characters who can actually act then give it a miss.l There are at least a dozen other films of this genre that are better to watch.

Sorry guys, I give it a thumbs down.
