Liam has left Ireland in search of his friends, Seamus, in New York. A bartender, Mario, introduces him to fellow Irishman Owen, who invites him to stay in his apartment in the Bronx, along with other illegal immigrants. At night, the friends all enjoy the camaraderie of Mario's bar. Following the break-up of the group, each slipping away to their own, new lives, just Liam is left behind helping Mario behind the bar. Melancholy turns once more to humour, as another optimistic Irish soul arrives and the circle of life, love and laughter continues.
