Synopsis:
Hugh Grant stars as a young mapmaker who offends an entire town by declaring their prized landmark too short to be called a "mountain." But he soon finds the eccentric locals, led by an outspoken innkeeper (Colm Meaney), will stop at nothing to defend their honour. While the townspeople rally to take their "hill" to new heights, a fiery young barmaid (Tara FitzGerald) charms the puzzled visitor into seeing things their way - and he unwittingly stumbles into love. See for yourself this delightful comedy treat that measures up to the towering praise of critics and moviegoers everywhere.

Classic Grant - lovely feel good movie - Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain review by PW

If you want a nice night in with nothing too taxing, some amusing characters, a bit of love interest, wonderful scenery, then this will tick all the boxes. The plot is a little predictable (title spoiler?) but with some lovely twists all the way to the end. Very enjoyable.
