Though he would later become a famed actor and social activist moving in very high circles, Harry Belafonte started out life as a warm caramel-voiced cabaret singer specialising in folk and, in particular, the calypso sounds of the islands. Here, he fairly melts into such well-loved slices of his back catalogue as 'The Banana Boat Song' and 'Island in the Sun' as well as sing along favourites as 'Jamaica Farewell' and 'Matilda, Matilda'.
