There are one or two very hostile reviews of this film on here. One wonders what the authors of these reviews were expecting? Perhaps they were disappointed that, despite the film's title, there is very little actual sex in it?
This is actually a very impressively naturalistic film about three British teenage girls who go on holiday to the Greek resort of Malia, soon after they have completed their GCSEs. The film begins with the three friend's arrival and ends with their departure. The girls are young, excited and alcohol flows freely (perhaps surprisingly, other drugs do not, at least not obviously). One of the girls, Em (Enva Lewis) suspects she might be gay and uses the holiday as an opportunity to explore her sexuality. Another, Skye (Lara Peake) exhibits an occasional cruel streak. The other, Tara (played by rising star, Mia McKenna-Bruce) has come away determined to lose her virginity. The resort lays on all manner of bawdy, alcohol-fuelled activities for the young revellers. Some people who the girls meet behave well. Others, do not. The film could just as easily have been called How NOT To Have Sex.
Molly Manning Walker's feature debut is well-made and well-acted. At one point, a single long look exchanged between Tara and Badger (Shaun Thomas) conveys everything.
