Upstart Crow: The Christmas Specials

Wonderful, erudite humour

(Edit) 24/11/2020

Upstart Crow is wonderful, deeply erudite humour based on what is know of the life of William Shakespeare, and riffing on the plots of his plays. These two Christmas Specials are well up to the standard of the remainder of the series. Highly recommended.

High Life

Some interesting premises, but ultimately somewhat puzzling

(Edit) 06/02/2020

Some other reviewers have mentioned the director's "minimalist" style of film making. I found this film so minimalist that I had to read several reviews and the wikipedia entry before I felt I had any idea what it was all about. Visually it is mostly enjoyable, but in a few interior scenes the set is rather unconvincing (it looks like a spaceship made of cardboard). Overall I felt it was worth watching mainly in order to understand something more about the director's style and oeuvre.
