The Saboteurs

Spoiled by fictional characters

(Edit) 07/12/2020

Could have been an excellent telling of Operation Grouse/Freshman/Gunnerside ... but ... Anna Friel's fictional Captain Smith is a constant irritant. What were the production staff thinking?

Why would a Colonel defer to a Captain? What is the silly hat perched on the side of her head and her uniform and medals- oh dear? Why add a Captain Carter (Marvel) remould to a real story?

The shouty American bombing planner is of no value to the story and constant "we have to stop the nazi atom bomb" is just silly . Nobody outside a very controlled small group new the true use of the Manhattan project etc , even Harry Truman (the man approved the use of the US bomb) was not briefed untill after Roosevelt died.

A story of extreme daring and courage ruined by the desire to bring in misplaced 21st century equality standards and vast innacuracy.

Entebbe

Read Saul David's book instead

(Edit) Updated 07/12/2020

Poor and not worthwhile. The dance routines have no relevance and just distract and annoy.

Misses out too much and tries to paint the murderous lunatic that was Idi Amin as some sort of clown. Read "Operation Thunderbolt" by Saul David instead to get a much better idea of what happened and who was involved.
