Rape Me

memorable for all of the wrong reasons

(Edit) 10/12/2005

Real sex as a carrot? This film is full of real nasty violence for no reason whatsoever. The challenge of a narrative without rhyme or reason does seem appealing, but unfortunately just feels repugnent. Does not hit me in any posative level and it certainly cannot be regarded as art.

Clerks 2

Nearly...

(Edit) 04/07/2007

This is a very funny film in it's own right. Being a big fan of the origional Clerks, I was very pleased and worried it would destroy the power of the first one. But it is extremely good.

Catching up with the old characters was both touching and funny, and the new guys are really good too.

Overall a pretty good mix of old and new and an extremely funny film.

De-Lovely

This is no tribute!

(Edit) 10/12/2005

By trying to modern up the songs of Cole Porter and producing something contemperary the whole show seems to have failed to me. I mainly put the blame on the arrangements which more pander to the artist than showcase the songs. A big dissappointment.

Julien Donkey-Boy

Not for me

(Edit) 04/07/2007

I know this is supposed to be a pretty interesting film, but I found it unpleasent to watch and did not bother to even watch it until the end

The Unbelievable Truth

Funny,deadpan, brilliant

(Edit) 03/03/2006

I accidently caught a Hal Hartley film a few years ago and I now own quite a few on DVD. The films are absolutely great. Paced quite slowly with humour you are not always sure is intended! He is a genius. This was one of the first films that got him a level of recognition. Do yourself a favour and just watch this one. If it is on your wave length you will love his work forever.

Anatomy of Hell

Somewhat of a grower

(Edit) 04/07/2007

When I started watching this film I did not really enjoy it and found some of the sexual references unpleasent but as I got to get more involved in it I really enjoyed it.

For me the film is an exploration of the differences and mutual fears of our opposite sex. This is explored and is very illuminating.

Not an easy film by any means but very rewarding if you try.

The Station Agent

Still remember the feeling of this movie after a year

(Edit) 10/12/2005

A film about a bunch of misfits that had no real reason to be in each others company, but still created something nice together... just like time with a lot of people around me, not perfect or ideal but better than the sadness of lack of contact with others.

It is a very funny and moving film. I absolutely love it.
