"Beat Beat Beat" was a German music programme that ran during the sixties. Not to be confused with the other well known German pop programme Beat Club, 'Beat Beat Beat' was broadcast out of Frankfurt commencing in 1966. The programme ran to 26 episodes between its launch in 1966 and the final programme in January 1969, all of which are still in the German television archives. The shows were eclectic affairs and included performances by artists as diverse as Eric Burdon and the New Animals, The Move, Cat Stevens and Barry Ryan to name just a few. This disc in the series of Beat Beat Beat releases features Eric Burdon and The New Animals. Eric Burdon had achieved massive worldwide success with the original Animals in 1964. By 1967 the original band had split and Eric, influenced by the new sounds coming out of America's West Coast formed the New Animals which were more psychedelically inclined. The band performs three tracks C.C. Rider and a harking back to the style of the older Animals with the John D Loudermilk song Tobacco Road and Roadrunner. Rarely seen before this footage is not only historical but an amazing document of the times. Included in this volume are Episode Six who include the talents of vocalist Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover before they went on to join Deep Purple a couple of years later. This is possibly the earliest footage to feature the future Deep Purple front man. They do a cover of the song Morning Dew made famous by Tim Rose and also Trumpets Blow.
