Breaking the Surface (1997)

The true story of Olympic diver Greg Louganis, who for many years struggled to keep the world from discovering that he was gay and HIV-positive. Young Greg (Mario Lopez) finds it hard to win the affection of his distant adoptive father, but is encouraged in his athletic endeavours by coach Ron O'Brien (Bruce Weitz), going on to win five Olympic golds. Manipulated by the sinister Tom Barrett, who threatens to reveal Louganis' secret to the world, Greg decides to go public after gashing his head while competing in the 1988 Olympics.
