Twenty-two slightly overweight, hungover men charging around a mud-filled football field in a windswept park. Smoking in the changing rooms before the match, hoofing the ball and fighting the opposing team and referee, oranges and cigarettes at half-time, with the crowd being made up of two men and a dog and of course, win or lose, on the booze in the pub afterwards... Sunday morning football is as integral a part of the great British weekend as a roast and Songs Of Praise. Its as far removed from the world of the overpaid stars of the Premier League as you can get, but is just as passionate as the professional game. Presented by TV star, radio personality and football fanatic Danny Baker, with his notorious blend of passion and wit, the series treats the teams as though they are 'proper' professionals, and not the bunch of amateurs they so clearly are. With the trials and tribulations of the latter part of a season at the grass roots of the beautiful game (although it's not always beautiful at this level), the TV series attained cult status among football fans but has rarely been seen since.
