The Racketeer (1929)
This gangster film stars Carole Lombard as broke ex-society girl, Rhoda Philbrooke, who accepts the advances of racketeer Mahlon Keane, (Robert Armstrong), to promote the career of failing classical violinist Tony Vaughan. Keane takes up Rhoda's cause and helps Vaughan's return to public performance and in return she agrees to marry him. On the eve of their marriage Vaughan confesses his love for Rhona. Now how will she handle her mobster fiance...?
Rain (1932)
Based on the story "Bain" by Somerset Maugham. A puritanical and self-righteous minister, (Walter Houston), sets out to reform a carefree American prostitute, Sadie Thompson, (Joan Crawford), stranded in Pago Pago, Samoa. But just when she has accepted his message, fallen in love with a good man and is trying to reform, his lust for her changes everything.
Shriek in the Night (1933)
Reporter Ted Rand (Lyle Talbot) arrives to investigate the mysterious death of a millionaire, only to find his chief rival, Pat Morgan (Ginger Rogers) already on the scene. Three Subsequent murders follow, and the police and newspapers alike are unable to uncover the killer in their midst. When Morgan receives a threatening message, the manhunt is redoubled, taking the police and Rand on a frenzied race to save Pats life and root out the murderer.
