Synopsis:
Set in the 1920s The House of Eliott tells the story of two sisters, Beatrice and Evangeline Eliott who find themselves penniless when their wealthy, philandering father dies. Unable to rely on their inheritance as they had planned they go into the dressmaking business and soon The House of Eliott is the smartest, most prestigious establishment in London.

Episode 1: Doctor Eliott dies suddenly and his daughters Evangeline and Beatrice are shocked to find he has left them with heavy debts and very little money to live on.

Episode 2: Beatrice starts work for photographer Jack Maddox and Evie takes an interest in worthy causes with Jack's sister Penelope. The sisters shine at a party they are escorted to by Jack.

Episode 3: Evie starts work with Mrs Partini to learn about the fashion industry, Beatrice meets Mrs Pearce and is furious with Evie for keeping a family secret. Jack comes to the sisters' aid.

Episode 4: Beatrice and Evie meet their half-brother and their feelings are confused. Their reputation is growing and clients are trying to lure them away to set up on their own.

It is some time since the House of Elliott was on television and, whilst it now comes across as slightly dated, I have very much enjoyed revisiting this series. Easy to watch with strong characters and a good story line.
