Synopsis:
The cultural influence of the United Kingdom has touched every corner of the globe, yet Welsh should be appreciated more than it is. For those who love choral music, the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir is a treat, singing in both English and Welsh, that ancient Celtic language with the greatest number of current speakers. Welsh's lilting rhythm has none of the harsh, Germanic Anglo- Saxon influences that resonates in the English language. The music soars and moves, with the unique power and resonance that only an all male choir possesses.
The Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir was established in 1995 when its founding member, Gwyn Roberts, gathered together a group of like-minded individuals of Welsh heritage to kindle the spirit of traditional Welsh male voice singing in their adopted country. The TWMVC has provided Welsh expatriates, Canadians of Welsh descent and others (in their adopted Country), the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of Welsh Male singing established by our forefathers in the last century. One of the Choir's objectives is to promote Welsh Culture through the study and presentation of Welsh music as part of the repertoire, in keeping with Welsh heritage and tradition.
