Recorded in the Netherlands at the Gitaarsalon and complete with an exclusive interview by Kailee Bialaszewski, this recital is a unique opportunity to watch the artistry of Thomas Viloteau and hear him talk about guitar, practicing and being a musician. With his own transcriptions of Scarlatti Sonatas, the immense Variations on "Las Folias" by M. M. Ponce and the romanticism of Mertz, Sor and Legnani, Thomas Viloteau...first prize winner of the 2006 GFA competition...takes his audience on a journey through more than 300 years of music.
unrecorded pieces: "listening to the silence of a starry night", Echo of the Trees (for charango and guitar) and Future Hope a piece dedicated to an organization which has changed the lives of hundreds of street children in Kolkata, India. This film was created by Johannes's brother, the film artist Simon Möller and uses almost exclusively natural light sources that give the film its unique vibrancy of color, compose a piece for this project. The Rossiniana presents a collection of arias from various operas of the famous Italian composer Gioachino Rossini. Frederico Moreno-Torroba composed few large scale instrumental pieces and in 2001, the manuscript of the Sonata-Fantasia was found. This is an important addition to the major contribution of the composer to the guitar repertoire.
