Kamal Haasan stars in this Tamil-language action drama co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam. Gangster Sakthivel (Haasan) takes in Amaran (T.R. Silambarasan) when he is a boy after his father, an innocent man, is killed during a shooting. Although Sakthivel treats Amaran like his own son and makes him his most trusted lieutenant, mistrust lingers between them. Sakthivel's brother Manickavel (Nassar) exploits this and manipulates Amaran into assisting in his plot to assassinate Sakthivel and take over his criminal empire. However, when Sakthivel survives the attempt to kill him, he returns to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.
The cast also includes Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
