His novels, set against the backdrop of big sky country, were full of rugged individuals who embodied the proud spirit and noble virtues of the old west.

Wild Horse Mesa (1947)
Tim Holt stars in this exciting western adventure. Holt plays a horse rancher out to help a neighbour, Richard Powers, round up a herd of wild horses for sale. In the process, Holt falls for his lovely daughter, Nan Leslie. Powers decides to bring in the horses alone and is killed in a violent ambush.
