Lost in Paris

dreadful

(Edit) 18/04/2021

Waste of time. Is it meant to be funny? I was attracted by the title, my fault for not watching the trailer, but I object to my native city being used for such a trite film.

The Book Thief

Fascinating.

I was not disappointed, this is in my view an excellent and sensitive film. Very moving. It is well acted, and kept me watching. Was sorry when it ended!

Manchester by the Sea

Disappointing in places

(Edit) 18/04/2021

The subject has been treated in other films, so not easy to be different. I thought the boat owner and his wife were the only fully sane characters in the film. Too much swearing, but overall kept watching. It's true to life in that little gets resolved in the end.

Demain

More a documentary than a film

(Edit) 18/04/2021

But well worth watching, and makes you think. It is well filmed, and there are interesting characters and suggestions for improving the health of our planet and our footprint.

The Sense of an Ending

Worth it for its cast

(Edit) 24/03/2021

Interesting, but a little drawn out. As a viewer who reviewed on a film website, I am left slightly confused at the end.

Jim Broadbent, Harriet Walter and Charlotte Rampling are excellent, as usual. The young lads are more convincing than young Veronica, there is no way that the young pouty actress who plays her young could turn out as distinguished as Charlotte Rampling!
