Thunderbirds

Brilliant for kids

(Edit) 03/03/2006

This is a great movie for kids - mine have watched it hundreds of times and still love it. There's enough in it for a parent not to get bored, but essentially it's one for the children.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Great film for the whole family

(Edit) 19/03/2007

This visually stunning film is fabulous fun for the whole family. I watched it with my daughter (just 4 years old) and my son (6) and husband and we all really enjoyed it. The acting is superb and Johnny Depp gives a wonderful performance as the eccentric Willy Wonka. It is funny, fresh and original, while staying true to the original Dahl story. I recommend it for the whole family.

The Black Dahlia

Incomprehensible

(Edit) 30/04/2007

What a let down. I found this so hard to follow that I don't really understand what happened in the end and what's more I didn't really care. I have loved other films of Ellroy's books and other de Palma movies, but this was a completely confusing disappointment.

The Interpreter

Spolied by the last ten minutes

(Edit) 09/07/2007

I really enjoyed this right up until the very end of the movie. The acting is really strong from Kidman, Penn and Keener and the subject matter (especially as it seems to relate to current day Zimbabwe) was interesting. It bowled along at a cracking pace, BUT the ending is preposterous! I won't give it away, but if it was this easy to make dictators see the error of their ways, then we should have sent Nicole Kidman into Iraq and not bothered having the war.

Stardust

Great fun for the whole family

(Edit) 04/01/2009

This is a great film for the whole family - one that boys and girls can both enjoy (as well as adults). A cracking plot, great characters and wonderful cast.
