Synopsis:
After UN interpreter Silvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) overhears a plot to assassinate an African head of state, the US Secret Service is brought in to investigate, in the shape of hard-bitten agent Tobin Keller (Sean Penn), who nonetheless suspects she may not be telling the whole truth. Realising she has become a target of the assassins as well, the interpreter is desperate to thwart the plot...if only she can survive long enough to get someone to believe her.

Spolied by the last ten minutes - The Interpreter review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
09/07/2007

I really enjoyed this right up until the very end of the movie. The acting is really strong from Kidman, Penn and Keener and the subject matter (especially as it seems to relate to current day Zimbabwe) was interesting. It bowled along at a cracking pace, BUT the ending is preposterous! I won't give it away, but if it was this easy to make dictators see the error of their ways, then we should have sent Nicole Kidman into Iraq and not bothered having the war.

UN-inspirational - The Interpreter review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert

A weak plot and even weaker characters will make you regret watching this one- even after 15 minutes in. Nicole Kidman is miscast here- she is just too clean & pretty for this- and you feel that Penn is being lazy. However you do get to see the insides of the UN HQ! I really cannot recommend this film- however bored you might be.
