Presented here for the first time since their original transmission, are the three uncut versions of David Bailey's documentary profiles of leading 20th Century cultural icons.
David Bailey, self-taught photographer and one of the prime architects of the Swinging Sixties, broadened his horizons in the late 1960s and early 1970s, making three high-profile documentaries for Lew Grade's ATV channel. With his standing among the artistic community, Bailey was given unprecedented access to his subjects - photographer Cecil Beaton, Italian film director Luchino Visconti and Pop Art legend Andy Warhol. The latter documentary was infamously banned by the Courts on the grounds that it was offensive and indecent, though this verdict was later overturned and the programme finally transmitted.
Offering a fascinating insight into three of the 20th Century's most influential cultural figures and directed by one of the most famous commercial photographers and film-makers in the world, Bailey On... makes remarkable viewing.
