'Process' is the story of a woman who makes a pragmatic decision to die. Told in twenty-nine single takes and with nearly no dialogue, the film is a record of erasure told in the subjective first person by a distanced camera eye journeying towards its subject. The woman a the center of 'Process' is an actress who first loses her ability to speak on stage and then, by degrees, every attachment to the material world. She rejects at once sentimentality and comfort, instead reaching out to a dignified controlled response to her predicament.Early on in a harsh attempt to cling to life, she challenges herself to a series of experiments in which she pushes beyond the limits most people use to keep themselves safe. These experiments are sexual, physical, cerebral, political and philosophical in nature. The goal is de-glaciation. But in each one of them she senses failure, as what she experiences merely adds to the chill. In abstraction we share this woman's journey, to an end she has settled on her own terms.
