Sarah Miles stars as the dazzling mercurial Lady Caroline and Richard Chamberlain is the brilliant romantic Lord Byron in this lavish retelling of the most notorious cabinet-level sex scandal of the 19th century. Lady Caroline well married to a future Prime Minister meets and captures the gifted Lord Byron. Cast off by Byron Caroline botches a public suicide creating a scandal that rocks society and threatens William Lamb's career. After an unsuccessful attempt to use the Duke of Wellington (Laurence Olivier) for her purposes lady Caroline agrees to give up Lamb and live alone.
