- Chabrol's masterpiece is a voyeuristic look at infidelity and marriage. A domineering husband, played by Paul Gegauff, decides that he and his wife, played by Gegauff's ex-wife, Danielle, should have open affairs with other lovers. His plan tragically backfires when he becomes plagued with jealousy.
