This was in my view a cliched and rather trite offering from Hollywood, unfortunately typical of many from that quarter. We are meant to believe that someone talking at breakneck speed and brooking no interruptions is both highly intelligent and super efficient. No, such people are simply boring and one very soon tires of the wordy fusillade. Un point.

A brilliant tour de force in terms of both acting and direction. Huppert is as always superb and supremely watchable and Chabrol is at the top of his form. I would be glad to view it again and again
